Bookkeeper / Accountant (Remote, EST overlap)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to join Aspire CFO’s growing finance team. The role supports multiple Canadian clients remotely, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, payroll and tax compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple client assignments and meet competing deadlines.
• Reconcile bank accounts and corporate credit cards monthly.
• Maintain prepaid schedules, calculate amortization and record journal entries.
• Maintain capital asset continuity schedule and record monthly depreciation.
• Process payroll each pay period and ensure timely filing of T4s and other payroll documents.
• Enter vendor invoices into the accounting system, leveraging automation, and run bi‑weekly accounts payable payments.
• Review and process expense reports using automation tools.
• Prepare and remit Canadian sales tax returns.
• Address vendor and employee queries related to accounts payable and payroll.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for management and banks.
• Support year‑end activities and audit engagements by providing documentation and responding to queries.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• University degree.
• ICAG membership.
• Excellent Excel proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Interest in mentorship and ability to work a shift overlapping Eastern Standard Time.
• Prior experience with QuickBooks Online or Xero is an asset.
