Business Development Manager – Agricultural Commodities

About the role

We are launching operations in Ghana and need a Business Development Manager to expand our market share in agricultural commodities such as soy, wheat and wheat bran. The role will focus on prospecting new buyers, negotiating contracts and building strategic partnerships across Ghana and the wider West African region.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prospect new buyers (distributors, feed manufacturers, agri‑food processors, wholesalers) for soy, wheat and wheat bran.
• Develop and maintain an active client portfolio and negotiate sales contracts covering price, volume, Incoterms, payment terms and delivery timelines.
• Monitor contract execution in coordination with supply‑chain and finance teams.
• Track international commodity prices (e.g., Chicago Board of Trade) and local consumption trends, analyse competition and spot arbitrage opportunities.
• Prepare market notes and recommendations to guide buying/selling strategy.
• Establish partnerships with Ghanaian institutions, professional agricultural organisations and chambers of commerce; represent the company at trade fairs and sector events.
• Report commercial KPIs (volumes, revenue, gross margin, client renewal) and produce regular reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Business, Agri‑food, Economics or Business Administration.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in international agricultural commodity trading or import/export, with a strong network in Ghana and West Africa.
• Fluent English; knowledge of local languages (Twi, Hausa) is a plus.
• Strong negotiation, communication and cross‑cultural skills, autonomous and results‑driven.
