Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager will lead the operational delivery of a social‑enterprise programme that generates revenue while advancing humanitarian impact in areas such as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), livelihoods, food security and community development. Reporting to the Business Development & External Affairs Director, the role translates the approved social‑enterprise model into a functional, revenue‑generating commercial operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the annual Social Enterprise Operational Plan, converting strategy and budget into monthly schedules, resource allocations and delivery milestones.
• Coordinate activity scheduling across multiple enterprise streams to maximise asset utilisation and prioritise emergency response needs.
• Prepare monthly performance reports, revenue tracking, cost variance analysis and quarterly Board updates.
• Manage the enterprise‑wide work planning system, ensuring clear task plans for stream officers and support staff.
• Maintain the contract register for water services engagements, track milestones, invoicing, payments and client satisfaction.
• Support preparation of technical proposals and quotations using the approved pricing matrix.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational planning and programme management within a social‑enterprise or humanitarian context.
• Experience managing multi‑stream enterprise operations, especially in water infrastructure commercialisation.
• Strong ability to build and maintain client and partner relationships.
• Excellent analytical skills for performance reporting and financial monitoring.
