Carbon Project Manager - West Africa

About the role
BURN is seeking a Carbon Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of baseline and monitoring surveys, stakeholder consultations, and related activities for its carbon‑financed Improved Cook Stove (ICS) projects across West Africa. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while supporting the generation of carbon credits.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a detailed project Gantt chart covering all phases from inception to carbon‑credit issuance.
- Prepare full project budgets, monitor expenses, and produce regular financial reports.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings, including budgeting, participant outreach, logistics, and documentation.
- Organise and lead baseline surveys, kitchen performance tests, annual monitoring, leakage surveys, and water‑boiling tests.
- Recruit, train, and manage field data collectors and oversee on‑the‑ground data collection activities.
- Support project location selection and quality‑risk assessments in collaboration with MRV coordinators.
- Conduct distribution quality audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and verification standards.
- Identify, escalate, and help mitigate quality and compliance risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing complex projects, preferably in carbon finance or clean‑cooking initiatives.
- Strong budgeting and financial reporting capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and facilitate stakeholder meetings and field surveys.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and coordinating logistics for field work.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
