Cardiac Physiologist

About the role

Provide a high quality, patient‑focused cardiology diagnostic service at the new Bank Hospital in Accra, supporting physicians in diagnosing and treating heart, lung and vascular disorders.

Key responsibilities

• Perform invasive and non‑invasive cardiovascular and pulmonary diagnostic tests such as ECG, treadmill stress tests, ultrasound and echocardiography.
• Assist physicians in cath‑lab procedures and prepare/clean procedure rooms before, between and after cases.
• Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot cardiac equipment, including ultrasound scanners and intra‑aortic balloon pumps.
• Monitor patients with pacemakers, ICDs or heart valve replacements and conduct regular follow‑up checks.
• Record test results, analyse data and supply physiological reports to cardiologists and surgeons.
• Communicate with patients, staff and other parties to ensure efficient, patient‑centred service delivery.

Required profile

• Degree in healthcare science, medical science or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience working in a hospital environment.
• Excellent analytical abilities and strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Calm, confident and caring interpersonal manner.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cardiac ultrasound scanners.
• Experience using intra‑aortic balloon pumps.
• Knowledge of pacemaker and ICD selection and monitoring.
• Competence in performing ECG and treadmill stress testing.
• Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot cardiovascular diagnostic equipment.
