Commis I – Kitchen Assistant (Food & Beverage)

About the role

Join Marriott International’s Food & Beverage team in Accra as a Commis I. You will support the kitchen by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients: portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and store food items.
• Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Monitor food quality, test doneness and ensure correct temperatures.
• Set‑up and break‑down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain sanitation of the kitchen area and tools.
• Follow company safety, security and hygiene policies, reporting any issues to the manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift objects up to 25 lb throughout the shift.
• Professional appearance and ability to communicate clearly.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food portioning, chopping, weighing and measuring.
• Food safety and hygiene practices.
