Cost Specialist – Projects (Mid Level)

About the role

The Cost Specialist will deliver a full suite of cost‑control services and estimation support for mining projects at the Obuasi Mine. You will develop and implement cost‑management processes, providing accurate and timely cost information to project managers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed project cost models, business plans and control budgets.
• Prepare and update project cost reports, forecasts, cash‑flow projections and variance analysis.
• Coordinate work‑breakdown and cost‑breakdown structures with project leads and scheduling teams.
• Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle, perform quality assurance on contractor cost‑management, and conduct cost risk analysis.
• Review financial data such as accruals, invoices, purchase orders and material deliveries.
• Support change‑management procedures, contractor payment approvals and monthly cost reconciliation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil), Finance or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in engineering or mining cost modelling.
• Exposure to underground or process‑plant infrastructure planning is desirable.
• Valid Ghanaian manual driver’s licence and ability to meet site medical requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Xeras (advantage).
• Strong cost modelling and project cost‑control capabilities.
• Financial analysis and budgeting skills.
