Deputy General Manager – Banking

About the role

The Deputy General Manager will support the General Manager in steering the bank’s strategic direction, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and driving operational excellence across all functions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement policies formulated by the Board of Directors.
• Define, develop and implement clear, measurable objectives for the bank.
• Maintain accurate financial books and records.
• Communicate statutory directives and regulations to the General Manager and Board.
• Prepare and submit timely reports to ARB Apex, the Bank of Ghana and other regulatory bodies.
• Oversee internal control systems and enforce security precautions over assets.
• Identify and design training needs for staff and directors.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance or Banking with a professional qualification (ICA, ACCA, CIB); MBA is an advantage.
• At least 10 years of post‑qualification experience in the financial and banking sector, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, able to engage with Board members, clients, employees and community representatives.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging environments.
• Computer literate, especially proficient with e‑merge (T24) banking software.
• Must be at least 45 years of age.
