Deputy Internal Auditor

About the role

The University seeks a dynamic, self‑motivated Deputy Internal Auditor to support the Director of Audit in overseeing all auditing functions, financial management, and compliance within the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Audit in managing the audit office in line with the Technical Universities Act, 2016 and related regulations.
• Control and maintain financial transactions and accounting records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and government regulations.
• Review monthly and annual financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare operating budgets, oversee multi‑year fiscal planning, and coordinate annual audits.
• Analyze budgets for senior review and provide recommendations.
• Plan, direct, and review personnel within the Audit Directorate.
• Develop, implement, and maintain auditing and administrative policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Research Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Chartered Accountant membership (e.g., ACCA, ICA, CPA).
• Minimum six (6) years of senior internal audit experience in a university, industry, or public practice with managerial responsibilities.
• Evidence of scholarly work or publications related to audit or finance.
• Computer literate with proficiency in accounting/auditing software.
• Analytical, result‑oriented, innovative, and able to work independently under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Membership of CISA is an added advantage.
