Deputy Process Manager – Metallurgical Operations

About the role

The Deputy Process Manager will oversee day‑to‑day metallurgical processing operations, ensuring optimal gold recovery and strict compliance with health, safety and environmental standards. This position reports to the Process Manager and supports the achievement of annual production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and control metallurgical processing to meet annual gold production goals.
• Optimize plant performance, conduct continuous metallurgical and chemical analysis, and implement improvements to maximize gold recovery.
• Prepare and manage the department’s annual capital and operational budgets, ensuring expenditures stay within approved limits.
• Develop and enforce operating procedures, staffing plans, and maintenance schedules for the processing plant.
• Monitor daily, weekly and monthly performance of all sections, ensuring targets are met and inputs such as reagents and consumables are adequately stocked.
• Lead research and development initiatives to introduce new processing methods and recommend acquisition of equipment to increase capacity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in a Process Manager role.
• Certified First Aider and holder of a Process Plant/Metallurgical Manager Certificate of Competency from the Minerals Commission.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of mineral processing, especially flotation circuits and sulphide treatment plants.
• Strong analytical ability for metallurgical test work and data interpretation.
• Proficiency in process plant operation and gold recovery optimization.
• Experience in budgeting and capital expenditure planning for processing facilities.
