Deputy Regional HR Manager – West & South Africa

About the role

PIL is seeking a proactive and experienced HR professional to serve as Deputy Regional HR Manager for its West and South Africa Regional Office in Accra. You will work closely with the Regional HR Manager to ensure seamless HR operations across seven countries, aligning regional initiatives with global people priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to design and implement HR strategies that support the overall business plan and regional people agenda.
• Support workforce planning, organisational design and talent initiatives across Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa.
• Drive and manage HR aspects of organisational change, helping leaders navigate transitions effectively.
• Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts and ensure compliance with local employment laws and internal policies.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention strategies and leadership development programmes.
• Develop and champion employee engagement and well‑being initiatives that foster an inclusive work environment.
• Manage the performance management framework, ensuring regular, meaningful appraisals and performance improvement plans.
• Implement new HR policies and review existing ones to ensure alignment with regional and global standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR management, preferably within a multi‑country or multinational context.
• Strong partnership mindset with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders.
• Demonstrated capability to manage change initiatives and resolve employee relations issues.
• In‑depth knowledge of employment legislation across the West and South Africa region.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, inclusive approach.
