Deputy Regional HR Manager – West & South Africa

About the role

Pacific International Lines is seeking a Deputy Regional HR Manager to support its West and South Africa Regional Office in Accra, Ghana. Reporting to the Regional HR Manager, you will help drive HR strategy across seven countries, ensuring alignment with global people priorities and delivering a seamless employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support the overall business plan and regional people agenda.
• Support workforce planning, organizational design, and talent initiatives across Ghana, Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa.
• Lead HR aspects of change management projects, guiding managers and employees through transitions.
• Address employee relations issues, mediate conflicts, and ensure compliance with local employment laws.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention, and leadership development programs, including talent reviews and succession planning.
• Develop and promote employee engagement and well‑being initiatives that foster an inclusive workplace.
• Manage the performance management cycle, ensuring regular appraisals, feedback, and improvement plans.
• Create, update and communicate HR policies to ensure consistency with corporate standards and regional regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR management, preferably within a multinational or regional context.
• Strong understanding of employment legislation in West and South Africa.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive change.
• Relevant HR qualification or degree.
