Drill Helper

About the role

The Drill Helper supports safe and efficient drilling operations at Newmont's Ahafo Mine. Working onsite, you will assist drillers in preparing, executing, and inspecting drill holes for blasting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Attend pre‑drill instruction meetings and follow directions from the Drill Supervisor.
• Assist drillers with loading, securing, positioning, and unloading drill equipment.
• Stake out drill hole sites using pegs when the jigsaw system is unavailable.
• Measure and mark required drill depths with appropriate equipment.
• Secure drill holes with PVC piping and support tool‑change activities safely.
• Set up and pack down drill sites, ensuring all equipment is inspected before blasting.

Required profile

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures.
• Physical capability to handle drill equipment and perform manual tasks.
• Willingness to work in a mining environment and collaborate with the drilling team.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools.
• Operation of measuring equipment for drill depth.
• Handling of PVC piping for hole securing.
• Basic knowledge of drill equipment setup and maintenance.
