Electrical Technician

About the role

The Electrical Technician will perform high‑voltage electrical work, installations, maintenance and repairs at the Iduapriem Gold Mine. The role follows OEM specifications and AngloGold Ashanti’s standard operating procedures, ensuring safe and reliable power supply for mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor high‑voltage systems and identify improvement opportunities.
• Execute maintenance programmes for transformers, switchgear and substations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose and repair power and control systems, starters and related equipment.
• Conduct daily inspections, scheduled maintenance and technical anomaly investigations.
• Ensure compliance with ISO and OSHAS safety standards, including work permits and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.

Required profile

• Electrical Technician Part II & III or HND Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum six years’ experience in a mining environment, preferably in milling or CIL plants.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Strong written communication and ability to report accidents, incidents and near‑misses.
