Electrical Winder Engineer

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanised operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Electrical Winder Engineer to lead the maintenance and safety of our winding equipment, ensuring maximum plant availability while meeting strict HSE and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control the quality of winding equipment maintenance to ensure compliance with operational and engineering policies.
• Apply HSE regulations, conduct safety inspections, audits, JHAs and lead investigations of incidents.
• Ensure environmental compliance with Ghanaian approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Analyse process interruptions using improvement tools and drive continuous design and field safety performance.
• Define roles and accountabilities, recruit and develop staff in line with localisation objectives.
• Prepare and execute training plans, maintain a skills matrix and address skill gaps.
• Communicate policies and procedures to achieve full understanding and compliance across the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical engineering within mining or heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong knowledge of HSE standards, safety audits and incident investigation.
• Ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder expectations and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical skills and experience with data collection for compliance reporting.
