Engineering Superintendent – Pastefill & Material Handling

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. The Engineering Superintendent – Pastefill & Material Handling will lead the development, maintenance and optimisation of pastefill and material handling plants to support sustainable, cost‑effective production.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safety management plan elements for the areas under control and achieve zero reportable incidents.
• Develop and implement material handling and pastefill plant maintenance to maximise availability and minimise operational risk.
• Lead the engineering team, establish the organisational structure and ensure competence through a skills matrix and succession planning.
• Review, approve and sign‑off refurbishment execution plans, detailed designs, testing, commissioning and hand‑over documentation.
• Manage interaction with contractors and internal teams to deliver projects on time, within budget and to required quality standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering.
• At least 10 years experience in underground materials transport and conveyor maintenance, with project management exposure.
• Engineering Superintendent Certificate of Competency from the Minerals Commission of Ghana and professional engineering registration.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of underground conveyor and belting maintenance/replacement.
• Experience with SAP PM module.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel.
• Understanding of AGA standards, OEM legalities and mining regulations.
