About the role

The Executive Housekeeper is a senior member of the shipboard management team, responsible for overseeing all housekeeping functions and staff on board a Royal Caribbean cruise vessel. This role ensures that guest areas, crew spaces, and laundry operations meet the brand’s high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness, maintenance and presentation standards across all guest staterooms, balconies, corridors, officer cabins, laundry, lockers and storage areas.
  • Report to the Hotel Director and collaborate with other hotel division heads to uphold brand standards.
  • Lead, motivate and coach a team of housekeeping staff, handling guest feedback and requests efficiently.
  • Provide classroom‑style and on‑the‑job training, supporting succession planning.
  • Coordinate the Housekeeping schedule with shoreside support and monitor staffing needs.
  • Oversee laundry operations, ensuring the Laundry Master has the resources and training needed.
  • Manage yearly budgets for housekeeping and laundry cost centers and revenue streams such as laundry services and floral cart.
  • Drive performance against guest satisfaction scores, quality reviews, health inspections and operational audits.
  • Stay informed about ship events and special functions to guide the team.
  • Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are maintained and staff are trained in proper use.

Required profile

  • Professional and courteous demeanor at all times, reflecting Royal Caribbean’s philosophy of “Anchored in Excellence”.
  • Proven leadership experience in a hospitality or housekeeping environment.
  • Ability to mentor, develop and train team members.
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills for cost centers and revenue streams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning practices, procedures, equipment and materials.
  • Effective communication skills for handover notes, meetings and coordination with other departments.
