External Communications Manager

About the role

The External Communications Manager will shape and protect Telecel Ghana’s brand reputation by designing and executing strategic communication initiatives that align with business goals. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all external communications, working closely with senior leadership, the Telecel Foundation, and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a strategic communications partner to senior management and develop integrated communication plans.
• Manage external agencies, budgets, and media partnerships to ensure effective brand storytelling.
• Prepare speeches, Q&A sessions, fact sheets, and interview guides for the CEO and senior management team.
• Monitor media coverage and lead crisis response initiatives.
• Build and maintain relationships with key media personnel and industry influencers.
• Collaborate with internal teams to produce content for websites, social media, and press materials.
• Lead public profiling and awareness campaigns for the Telecel Foundation and sustainability initiatives.
• Develop and execute programs to enhance Telecel’s reputation and position it as a thought leader.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
• Proven expertise in media relations, communication strategy development, and crisis management.
• Experience providing strategic communication guidance to senior executives.
• Strong stakeholder identification, mapping, and engagement skills.
• Project management, budgeting, and reporting experience with a track record of delivering results.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Advanced analytical and numeracy skills for performance tracking and reporting.
• In‑depth understanding of Ghana’s socio‑economic and environmental landscape.
