Field Services Technician – Vibration Specialist (Mining)

About the role

We are seeking two vibration specialists to deliver predictive maintenance services and customer training for mining assets across the West African region. The role is a temporary contract with a 6‑week on‑site rotation followed by a 2‑week break, employed by SKF in Ghana.

Key responsibilities

• Perform condition‑based and predictive maintenance activities, including vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil sampling and motor current signature analysis at customer sites.
• Manage schedules for time‑driven and event‑based tasks, conduct root‑cause analysis, and compile detailed reports with recommendations within eight hours.
• Provide on‑site training and coaching to customers, promote SKF service portfolio and identify new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Formal Mechanical or Electrical/Maintenance Engineering qualification (BSc, BTech, NHD, ND) or recognized trade qualification.
• Minimum Category II Vibration Analyst (ISO 18436) and Level I Infrared Thermography certification.
• At least five years of reliability service experience in a maintenance engineering environment.
• Proficient English communication and customer‑service attitude.

Required skills

• Vibration analysis and infrared thermography.
• Condition‑based maintenance, predictive maintenance and root‑cause analysis.
• Use of PC‑based software: MS Office, SAP‑PM and other CMMS tools.
• Oil sampling, motor current signature analysis (MCSA) and visual inspection techniques.
