About the role

The Field Supervisor will lead on‑the‑ground implementation of sustainable land‑use, agroforestry and forest conservation initiatives in the Sui River cocoa‑forest landscape of north‑west Ghana. Reporting to Rainforest Alliance, you will ensure that cocoa supply chains remain deforestation‑free and comply with international standards such as the EU Deforestation Regulation and the Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee daily execution of agroforestry, forest restoration and climate‑smart cocoa activities, meeting project milestones and donor KPIs.
  • Train and support cocoa farmers in shade‑grown cocoa, soil health, and integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
  • Provide technical assistance to landscape management boards and Community Resource Management Areas (CREMAs), including participatory mapping and community engagement.
  • Represent Rainforest Alliance in local government meetings, conferences and promotional events.
  • Contribute to project planning, budgeting, development of learning materials, case studies and progress reporting.
  • Deliver Train‑the‑Trainer sessions on climate‑smart and regenerative agriculture for lead farmers and partner institutions.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, agronomy, natural resource management, environmental science, agricultural extension or a related field (or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Minimum 5 years of field‑based project management experience in the cocoa sector or forest conservation.
  • Proven ability to work with smallholder communities and multi‑stakeholder landscape boards.
  • Strong understanding of international sustainability regulations (e.g., EUDR, GCFRP, RA SAS).
