Finance Director – International NGO

About the role

The Finance Director will be NRGI’s most senior financial leader, reporting jointly to the President & CEO and the COO. This role oversees a $15 million annual budget, multi‑currency operations across 15 countries, and ensures financial integrity for a distributed team of about 80 staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and stewardship for the organization.
• Ensure compliance, audit readiness, and risk management across all jurisdictions.
• Manage grant and donor financing, including multi‑donor restricted funding portfolios.
• Drive systems and process improvements to modernize finance operations.
• Lead and develop the finance team, fostering collaboration with senior leadership.
• Build strategic partnerships with the Governing Board and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) with at least 15 years of senior financial leadership.
• Extensive experience in an international NGO, nonprofit or development organization.
• Proven track record managing multi‑country, multi‑currency financial operations.
• Experience handling complex multi‑donor funding and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead annual external audit processes.
