Fresh Produce Co‑Ordinator

About the role

The Fresh Produce Co‑Ordinator will drive strategic growth, operational excellence, and commercial performance of the Fresh Produce category. Working closely with Buying, Store Operations and Marketing, the role ensures the category meets customer expectations for quality, value and innovation while maintaining profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a forward‑thinking Fresh Produce category strategy aligned with seasonality and business objectives.
• Drive sales, gross margin and category contribution through assortment planning, pricing and promotional optimisation.
• Identify and launch value‑added produce lines, convenience packs and seasonal ranges.
• Monitor market trends, customer behaviour and competitor activity to inform category development.
• Champion best‑in‑class freshness standards, grading, handling and stock rotation to minimise waste.
• Support the creation of cut fruit, prepared vegetables and other convenience offerings.
• Lead training and implementation of in‑store processes to ensure consistent product quality and visual merchandising.

Required profile

• Grade 12 minimum; Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Food Science or related field.
• 5‑7 years experience in fresh produce retail, category management or store operations.
• Proven track record managing margin, shrinkage and stock in a fresh food environment.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with strategic thinking on seasonality and market trends.
• Ability to influence operational improvements across multiple stores.
