Hatchery Manager

About the role

The Hatchery Manager is a full‑time, on‑site position at Birchwood Farms in Potsin. The role oversees daily hatchery operations, ensuring high productivity, animal welfare, and compliance with biosecurity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee egg collection, incubation, hatching, and early chick care while monitoring equipment performance and environmental conditions.
• Maintain strict biosecurity, keep accurate records of hatch rates and stock health, and support regulatory compliance.
• Supervise, train, and schedule hatchery staff, implement standard operating procedures, and coordinate with farm management on production targets and inventory.
• Drive continuous process improvements to enhance hatchery efficiency and quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hatchery or poultry farm management with strong knowledge of incubation processes and chick care.
• Ability to lead diverse teams safely, organize work schedules, and communicate effectively with farm leadership.
• Physical capability to work in hatchery conditions, including standing for long periods and handling equipment and livestock.
• Diploma or degree in agriculture, animal science, or related field preferred; equivalent practical experience accepted.
