Head of Clinical Sciences

About the role

Central University is seeking a Head of Clinical Sciences to provide academic and administrative leadership for the department, deliver clinical services at the forthcoming Central University Hospital, and supervise medical students. The position is based in Tema and is a full‑time senior appointment. It combines teaching, research, and clinical practice while fostering partnerships with external hospitals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative leadership to the department.
• Deliver clinical services at the yet‑to‑be operational Central University Hospital.
• Offer teaching and supervisory services to medical students.
• Collaborate with external hospital partners and clinical faculties.
• Fulfill all other obligations expected of a senior academic member.
• Execute any additional role assigned by the Dean or Vice‑Chancellor.

Required profile

• Must hold at least the rank of Senior Lecturer from a recognised tertiary institution or have a minimum of 7 years experience as a clinician in public or private practice.
• Must possess a PhD, terminal degree (fellowship) or at least a membership qualification from a recognised body in internal medicine, Accident & Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine.
• Previous experience in a similar senior academic or clinical leadership role is advantageous.
