Material Handling Supervisor

About the role

The Materials Handling Supervisor will lead the coordination, training and quality control of maintenance technicians working on conveyors and material handling systems at the Obuasi underground mine. The role ensures safe, compliant and cost‑effective operation to maximise plant availability while supporting the mine’s refurbishment and long‑term production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor maintenance technicians on conveyor and material handling systems to maximise plant availability.
• Develop and implement safety management plans, conduct inspections, audits and investigations to ensure zero incidents.
• Plan, schedule and execute refurbishment and maintenance of conveyor systems in compliance with Ghanaian regulations and environmental plans.
• Prepare and maintain a skills matrix, recruit and train staff, and develop succession plans for critical positions.
• Report progress, cost, schedule and quality metrics to senior management and ensure alignment with project budgets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years experience in materials transport and conveyor maintenance in underground mining.
• Engineering Supervisor Certificate of Competency from the Mineral Commission of Ghana.
• Proven project management experience, including use of SAP Skills module.

• Strong materials movement and conveying competencies in underground mining.
