Mechanical Supervisor – Winders

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks an experienced Mechanical Supervisor for the winding equipment. The role is responsible for overseeing refurbishment and maintenance of winders to maximise plant availability while ensuring safety and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control winder refurbishment and later maintenance to meet standards and minimise operational risk.
• Conduct periodic audits, condition monitoring and data collection (vibration, infrared, ultrasonic, motor current, flux, NDT) on winding equipment.
• Analyse predictive maintenance data, generate work requests in SAP PM and schedule maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with contractors, track progress, and escalate delays or safety concerns.
• Participate in root‑cause failure analysis, continuous improvement programmes and cost‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance Management (or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in winding equipment maintenance within mining.
• Experience managing Maintenance and Repair Contracts and project management.
• Supervisory Certificate of Competence from the Mineral Commission of Ghana.

Required skills

• SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module.
• Microsoft Office suite – PowerPoint, Word, Project, Excel.
• Condition monitoring techniques: vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, motor current and flux analysis, non‑destructive testing.
• Predictive maintenance data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of AGA standards, OEM legalities and mining regulations.
