Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant

About the role

The Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant will join the Surface Mine Infrastructure team at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi operation. Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, the role is responsible for safely operating primary ventilation fans and the refrigeration plant during both refurbishment and ongoing production phases.

Key responsibilities

• Operate primary vent fans (KMVS, CAT 300, BVS, pastefill) and the fridge plant in compliance with Ghanaian regulations and AGAG standards.
• Perform daily pre‑start equipment and tool checks, reporting any anomalies immediately.
• Monitor short‑interval measures, ensure smooth equipment running, and escalate maintenance needs.
• Prepare checklists, transport required tools, and support contractors or construction teams as directed.
• Provide accurate data to the Maintenance Planner, open and close work orders in SAP, and maintain equipment within its safe operating envelope.

Required profile

• Senior High School Certificate and a recognized trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years of post‑apprenticeship experience in a related mechanical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Commitment to personal and team health, safety, and environmental standards.
