Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Operator to run the primary vent fans and fridge plant at our Obuasi surface mine infrastructure. The role reports to the Mechanical Supervisor and is critical for safe, compliant operation of ventilation and refrigeration systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate primary vent fans (KMVS, CAT 300, BVS, pastefill) and the fridge plant in accordance with Ghanaian government and AGAG regulations.
• Perform daily pre‑start equipment checks, report anomalies and coordinate with maintenance via SAP work orders.
• Execute short‑interval controls, monitor equipment performance and escalate any mechanical or crane‑related issues.
• Interface with contractors and construction teams during refurbishment and planned works.

Required profile

• Senior High School Certificate and successful completion of a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years post‑apprenticeship experience in a related mechanical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.

Required skills

• Operation of primary vent fans (KMVS, CAT 300, BVS) and fridge plant equipment.
• Mechanical trade competence and safe crane operation.
• Use of SAP for creating and closing maintenance work orders.
