Payroll Specialist / Human Resources Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Payroll Specialist who will also support HR functions. The role involves processing payroll for a large workforce, ensuring compliance with Ghanaian statutory requirements, and providing accurate payroll information to both management and employees.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll for thousands of employees, guaranteeing accuracy and timely payments.
• Calculate payroll using attendance, overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, leave and other relevant data.
• Maintain up‑to‑date payroll records and employee information in the HR system.
• Reconcile payroll data, investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
• Handle statutory deductions and submissions such as PAYE, SSNIT, Tier 2 and Tier 3 pension contributions.
• Generate payroll reports and assist with labour‑cost analysis and budgeting.
• Respond to employee queries regarding payroll, taxation and statutory benefits.
• Perform additional payroll and HR‑related tasks as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
• At least one year of payroll management experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting or with a large workforce.
• Familiarity with shift‑based and piece‑rate payroll is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Ghana Labour Law and statutory payroll obligations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for payroll data analysis.
