Principal, Mining Projects

About the role

The Principal, Mining Projects leads the planning, governance and delivery of capital mining projects and studies that enable safe, efficient and sustainable operations. Reporting to the Director of Projects, the role provides technical leadership for underground project engineering and ensures alignment with Life‑of‑Mine plans and site strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and construction of underground projects such as lateral developments, raise‑bore shafts, material handling infrastructure, ventilation and evacuation systems.
• Evaluate mining projects from pre‑feasibility through final engineering, ensuring technical, financial and operational viability.
• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary project team, fostering performance, capability building and succession planning.
• Conduct regular underground inspections to verify compliance with designs, work instructions and QA/QC requirements.
• Establish and enforce departmental standards, procedures and governance frameworks for capital project planning and execution.
• Liaise with internal and external subject‑matter experts to align designs with industry best practices and site standards.

Required profile

• Executive‑level qualification, preferably a degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience (120 months) in mining project engineering and delivery.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale underground capital projects.
• Strong understanding of Life‑of‑Mine planning, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
