About the role

The Pro Vice‑Chancellor (Academic Affairs) serves as the chief academic advisor to the Vice‑Chancellor and Council, overseeing all academic and student matters at Central University. Reporting directly to the Vice‑Chancellor, the role provides strategic leadership for Academic Deans and ensures the university’s teaching, research and service programmes meet the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the academic division, supervising Academic Deans and programme directors.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, statutes and national higher‑education regulations.
• Develop and maintain quality undergraduate, graduate and professional programmes.
• Recommend appointments of academic staff for teaching and research positions.
• Chair statutory committees as prescribed by the university statutes.
• Promote the use of emerging instructional technologies to enhance learning.

Required profile

• Professorial rank with a PhD and a distinguished record of scholarship.
• Extensive experience in teaching, research and senior university administration.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff and external partners.
• Deep appreciation of collegial governance and contemporary issues in higher education.

Required skills

• Knowledge of emerging instructional technologies.
