Program Manager – Solar Projects

About the role

The Program Manager – Solar Projects will lead the end‑to‑end incubation of new energy initiatives across target markets. You will validate business cases, identify target groups, and ensure product‑market fit before scaling commercial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and validate target groups and market segments within the distributed energy space in Africa.
• Develop robust financial and operational business cases for new solar, mini‑grid or energy‑storage products.
• Collaborate with technical teams to define and refine products based on local market feedback.
• Lead commercial execution, including pilot launches, customer acquisition and early‑stage revenue management.
• Plan, implement and monitor project activities to meet milestones.
• Coordinate with regulators, partners and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve shared goals.
• Prepare and maintain accurate reports on project progress and market insights.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in distributed energy systems (solar, mini‑grids, energy storage).
• Proven track record in companies with a strong energy footprint.
• Experience building a business line from scratch, including market entry and product‑market fit.
• Exposure to high‑growth African markets and structured, process‑driven environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or a related technical field; certifications in renewable energy, project management or finance are a plus.
