Project Director

About the role

We are seeking a senior Project Director to lead the strategic implementation of a donor‑funded education program across Accra and Tema. The role reports to the institutional partner and ensures the program meets its objectives, inclusion targets and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction, approve major decisions on scope, timeline and budget, and serve as senior point of contact with the partner.
• Oversee governance, compliance and budget, reviewing progress reports, work plans and ensuring expenditures stay within approved limits.
• Lead the Program Manager and team, supervise mentorship coaches, and step in to maintain continuity if key staff depart.
• Maintain relationships with government ministries, employer partners and other stakeholders; represent the organization at high‑level events.
• Identify and mitigate risks, act as final escalation point for unresolved issues, and communicate outcomes and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, business administration, education or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 7‑10 years of progressive program/project management experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience managing donor‑funded programs with budget oversight and compliance reporting.
• Strong stakeholder management experience with government bodies, private sector partners and international development organisations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing formal donor reports.
• Familiarity with Ghana’s development sector and ability to engage government stakeholders is an advantage.
