Project Facilitator – Education Programme (Salaga)

About the role

IBIS, a Danish international NGO operating in Ghana since 2001, seeks a dynamic Project Facilitator to lead the implementation of the three‑year Danida‑funded Christmas Calendar Project. The role is based in Salaga (Northern Region) and focuses on expanding quality basic education for out‑of‑school children in hard‑to‑reach communities of the East Gonja District.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement project objectives together with local CSO partners, the District Education Directorate and the District Assembly.
• Support the design and operation of monitoring and evaluation systems to guide strategy and improve performance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date education data for the district to inform policy decisions.
• Strengthen partnerships among IBIS, local CSOs, DED and DA and represent the Programme Director at district‑level stakeholder meetings.
• Lead and supervise project staff, including Project Supervisors and drivers.
• Promote accountability, good governance and long‑term sustainability by facilitating gradual hand‑over to local authorities.
• Identify district‑specific issues and contribute to fundraising concept notes.

Required profile

• First degree in Education, Development Studies, Sociology or related field; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum three years’ experience in training, capacity building and participatory teaching methods.
• Strong knowledge of Ghana’s education sector and gender‑sensitive programme development.
• Experience in advocacy, project coordination and stakeholder management.
• Good understanding of the Gonja language and other local languages (Nawuri, Likpakpaln).
