Project Manager - FMNR Heritage Project

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the two‑year FMNR Heritage Project in Ghana’s Nadam District, aiming to restore degraded lands, improve soil health, and enhance food security for smallholder farmers. This role combines technical guidance, stakeholder coordination, and team leadership to scale Farmer‑Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the FMNR Heritage Project, ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
  • Scale up FMNR by working with traditional authorities, local land users, and community groups.
  • Build capacity and share knowledge on sustainable land‑restoration, fire management, and farmer field schools.
  • Organise eco‑clubs and inclusive activities for women, men, and pastoralists.
  • Integrate direct programming, partner‑led spread, and community‑led spread to create an enabling environment.
  • Use national and regional stakeholder forums to promote dialogue and share lessons.
  • Provide technical input aligned with expertise and oversee the project budget in collaboration with finance staff.
  • Coordinate with WV Germany and WV Ghana technical staff to enhance project effectiveness.
  • Prepare programmatic reports, annual plans, and donor budgets; facilitate planning and budgeting cycles.
  • Prepare for audit reviews, ensure quality assurance, and supervise programme team members.

Required profile

  • Proven experience coordinating large‑scale environmental or agricultural projects.
  • Ability to work with traditional authorities, local land users, and diverse community groups.
  • Experience in capacity‑building, fire management, and farmer field school facilitation.
  • Strong skills in integrating direct, partner‑led, and community‑led programming approaches.
  • Competence in using stakeholder forums to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience managing project budgets and preparing donor reports.
