Rehabilitation Officer

About the role

The Rehabilitation Officer will coordinate equipment contractors and lead the implementation of mine closure and progressive rehabilitation programmes at our Obuasi site. This role ensures compliance with Ghanaian environmental regulations while promoting sustainable land restoration.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor mine rehabilitation and closure plans, including progressive rehabilitation and agro‑forestry integration.
• Identify and assess risks associated with rehabilitation activities and set measurable objectives.
• Conduct internal audits and update standard operating procedures for rehabilitation management.
• Perform heavy‑metal analysis of soil and plant tissues on reclaimed sites.
• Maintain GIS databases and produce regular reports on rehabilitation progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management or a related field.
• Minimum two years of rehabilitation experience in mining, extractive, or construction sectors.
• Certificate of Competency as a Health, Safety and Environment Officer from the Minerals Commission.
• Medical fitness for field work and a valid driver’s licence.
