Remote Go Software Engineer (Freelance)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to help build and evaluate large‑language‑model (LLM) datasets focused on realistic software engineering problems. You will work at the intersection of practical software development and AI research, influencing how LLMs assist developers.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open‑source libraries.
• Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment preparation.
• Evaluate unit‑test coverage and overall code quality.
• Modify and run codebases locally to assess LLM performance in bug‑fixing scenarios.
• Collaborate with researchers to select challenging repositories and issues for LLM evaluation.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on project tasks.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Go (Golang) or a comparable language.
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, and basic software pipeline setup.
• Ability to understand and navigate complex codebases.
• Comfortable running, modifying, and testing real‑world projects locally.
• Experience contributing to or evaluating open‑source projects is a plus.
