Section Operator II - Metallurgy

About the role

The Metallurgy Department at the Tarkwa site is looking for an experienced Section Operator II (job grading B6). The successful candidate plans and executes assigned tasks to meet operational objectives, coordinating work and following established controls in line with metallurgical standards and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Clean up material spills so that all circuits remain free from tripping hazards
• Assist the maintenance crew with maintenance work
• Liaise with supervisors to ensure timely reporting and execution of work
• Keep the area of operation controlled according to operational procedures
• Report unsafe situations or hazards that could obstruct production to the shift supervisor
• Use good judgment to overcome obstacles during the shift proactively
• Maintain a safe and friendly working environment in line with ISO 14001 and 45001 requirements
• Report to the supervisor on ways to improve safety, efficiency, performance and production
• Ensure good housekeeping

Required profile

• Senior High School Certificate
• At least three years' experience in a similar position
• Knowledge of processing plants and tools
• Ability to anticipate, plan and react quickly to changing circumstances
• Ability to identify and rectify risks and hazards
• Strong interpersonal skills with good verbal, written and listening skills
• Able to take initiative, own responsibility and complete tasks
• Valid Ghanaian driver's licence and ability to drive light vehicles
