Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will support the Director of Finance in managing the university’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and international accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Finance in overall management and administration of the university’s finance office, in line with the Technical University Act and statutes.
• Maintain control of all financial transactions and accounting records, ensuring compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and relevant government regulations.
• Develop, implement and update accounting and administrative policies and procedures.
• Supervise the preparation and review of monthly financial statements prepared by the faculties and the university’s consolidated financial accounts.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant with a research Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Accounting & Finance.
• Minimum six years of post‑qualification experience in a university, comparable higher‑education institution, public practice or similar organization.
• Demonstrated ability to produce analytical papers, position statements or reports for external assessment.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and result‑oriented mindset with the capacity to work independently and under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Experience with accounting software applications.
• Computer literacy and strong IT skills.
