Senior Accountant

About the role

Koforidua Technical University is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to join its finance team. The role involves supporting the Director of Finance, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with public‑sector accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Finance in overall management and administration of the university’s finance office, in line with the Technical University Act and statutes.
• Maintain control over all financial transactions and accounting records, ensuring compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and Ghanaian government regulations.
• Develop, implement and update accounting and administrative policies and procedures.
• Supervise the preparation and review of monthly financial statements submitted by the faculties and compile the University Financial Accounts Review.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant with a research Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Accounting & Finance.
• Minimum six years of post‑qualification experience in a university, comparable public‑sector institution or public‑practice accounting firm.
• Demonstrated ability to produce position papers, reports or memoranda for external assessment.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and result‑oriented mindset with the capacity to work independently and under pressure.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Proficiency with accounting software applications.
• Computer literacy and strong IT skills.
