Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design, development and implementation of complex electrical systems for mining projects. This role involves creating technical specifications, supervising engineering teams and ensuring safety and performance of all electrical installations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise electrical engineers and ensure safe, timely project delivery to engineering standards.
• Review single line diagrams, MCCs, cable schedules, earthing, motor controls, substations and lightning protection, and resolve design defects.
• Lead HAZOP and electrical risk assessments, integrating safety‑by‑design for high‑voltage, mill drives and hazardous areas.
• Manage engineering risks, vendor issues, drawing defects, equipment delays and construction punch‑list closure.
• Support resource planning, technical training, progress reporting, vendor evaluation, selection and FATs.
• Set electrical construction/testing standards; inspect cable, panels, earthing and insulation works and resolve deviations.
• Control electrical CAPEX, optimise designs and support pre‑commissioning, energisation, testing and plant commissioning.
• Drive reliability improvements, troubleshooting, RCA and corrective actions while ensuring compliance with international and Ghanaian requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems (Master's advantageous).
• 5–10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining industry.
• Registered member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers (GHIE).
• Knowledge of Ghana’s mining regulatory requirements and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
