Senior Manager, RAN Planning & Optimization (Technology)

About the role

The Senior Manager, RAN Planning & Optimization (Technology) will lead the end‑to‑end planning, design and continuous optimisation of MTN’s converged Radio Access Network across 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. The role ensures the network delivers the required coverage, capacity and quality of service for voice, data, fintech and digital services while managing cost efficiency and future‑proofing the architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Strategically design and plan a cost‑efficient RAN aligned to a 5‑year horizon, translating business plans and subscriber growth into capacity requirements.
• Maintain capacity and functionality across all technologies and oversee core network planning to meet KPI and QoS targets.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, lead CAPEX/OPEX optimisation initiatives and control licensing and network expansion costs.
• Monitor and drive RAN performance, produce regular KPI reports, and implement upgrades to meet performance standards.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and governance for RAN design, licensing and QoS obligations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior‑level RAN planning, design and optimisation within a multi‑vendor, multi‑technology environment.
• Strong understanding of telecom network economics, budgeting and cost‑efficiency strategies.
• Ability to translate business growth forecasts into technical network designs.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical, regulatory and commercial teams.
