Senior Specialist, IP Network Security

About the role

Lead the design, administration and operational management of MTN Ghana’s IP network security infrastructure, ensuring end‑to‑end protection of the network and services. The role is critical for securing internet‑facing platforms, data‑centre environments and the corporate network through robust design, risk management and proactive monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement security for high‑capacity, perimeter and data‑centre firewalls.
• Deploy and manage IDS/IPS, Unified Threat Management, anti‑DDoS, WAF and load‑balancer solutions.
• Implement Software‑Defined Perimeter, Zero‑Trust architectures, Cisco ACI and micro‑segmentation.
• Configure IP Log Management and integrate with SIEM platforms.
• Conduct security reviews, system audits and serve as SPOC for internal, external and regulatory audits (e.g., ISO 27001, NCA).
• Monitor day‑to‑day performance, enforce security policies across IP‑Core, IPRAN, internet gateways and corporate network.
• Escalate and manage security incidents per MTN’s incident management process.
• Lead risk and vulnerability assessments, root‑cause analysis and remediation coordination.
• Maintain defence playbooks, logging and threat‑intelligence integrations.
• Design and implement IPv6‑specific security controls, including filtering, RA/DHCPv6 protection and secure tunnelling.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience in IP network security within telecom or large‑scale enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of security architectures, regulatory frameworks (ISO 27001, NCA) and risk management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional stakeholders and drive security initiatives.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
