Senior Ventilation Engineer

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Senior Ventilation Engineer to plan, manage and maintain a safe, healthy ventilation environment for our workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure work areas meet occupational exposure limits by providing adequate ventilation and monitoring contaminants.
• Plan and oversee mine ventilation works, including placement of secondary fans, design of regulators, stoppings and sealing of stopes.
• Conduct monthly ventilation surveys, prepare work instructions and supervise ventilation construction activities.
• Collaborate with Mine Captains and Supervisors to execute ventilation tasks on schedule and to quality standards.
• Prepare and submit statutory ventilation reports and maintain ventilation logbooks for compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of underground ventilation engineering experience.
• Knowledge of ventilation planning, primary and secondary surveys, and data collection.
• Valid Blasting Certificate and Mine Rescue Certificate.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ventsim or VUMA ventilation software.
• Experience using mine planning tools such as Studio5D Planner or Surpac.
• Competence in AutoCAD for drafting ventilation layouts.
