Senior Winder Engine Driver

About the role

The Senior Winder Engine Driver will lead the team responsible for operating and maintaining the winding engines that service the Obuasi underground mine shafts. This senior position ensures safe, compliant, and efficient shaft operations in line with statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate work schedules, training, and performance monitoring of all winder drivers.
• Maintain compliance with LI2182 regulations (Reg 450‑458) and company safety policies.
• Oversee the recording, reporting, and investigation of shaft‑related incidents and deficiencies.
• Lead safety audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives for shaft operations.
• Ensure medical fitness and competency certification for all winder drivers.
• Manage shaft maintenance activities, including statutory inspections, material transport, and sling operations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience operating winding engines in underground mining.
• Proven ability to train and certify personnel to meet regulatory standards.
• Strong knowledge of safety management systems and incident investigation.
• Leadership skills to guide a team and enforce compliance.
