Shaft Supervisor

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Shaft Supervisor to lead the shaft maintenance team, ensure statutory compliance, and maximise plant availability in a safe and cost‑effective manner.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise cage operators and shaft maintenance technicians.
• Plan and execute statutory inspections of shafts, material transport, and all shaft‑related activities in line with LI2182.
• Develop and monitor safety management elements, ensuring zero reportable incidents and compliance breaches.
• Investigate process interruptions using Analyse and Improve tools and drive continuous improvement.
• Optimise energy consumption per unit of production within the supervisor’s sphere of influence.
• Review, approve, and sign off maintenance plans, designs, testing, commissioning, handover, and training documentation.
• Maintain accurate reporting on cost, schedule, and quality against the Feasibility Study scope.
• Control training and qualification processes to avoid project overruns.
• Utilise winding department systems for effective work planning, performance monitoring, and safety compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground mining shaft supervision.
• Strong knowledge of LI2182 statutory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams safely and achieve zero‑incident targets.
• Excellent analytical skills for process improvement and energy optimisation.
• Effective communication skills for reporting progress, cost, and quality.
