Shift Charge Engineer – Utilities Module

About the role
The Shift Charge Engineer will oversee the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the utilities module at our gas processing plant in Prestea, Ghana. You will ensure continuous power generation, water management and gas compression while upholding the highest safety and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Operations Superintendent in resolving technical and operational issues, including incident investigation and corrective actions.
- Maintain and repair utilities equipment such as power generation and distribution systems (PDCS, MCCS), cooling and raw water processing, residue gas compression, instrument air and nitrogen, and water management systems.
- Perform control‑room operations, switching and isolation procedures, and daily asset readings.
- Log all activities in the CMMS and prepare permit‑to‑work documentation.
- Support predictive and preventive maintenance programs to avoid unplanned shutdowns.
- Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist procurement of consumables and coordinate material acquisition.
- Develop training programs, conduct performance appraisals and manage shift schedules for subordinate staff.
Required profile
- BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in power, gas or heavy‑process plant operations.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Process Safety Management, OSHA and related standards.
Required skills
- Power generation and distribution systems (PDCS, MCCS).
- Cooling water, raw water and water‑management processes.
- Residue gas compression, instrument air and nitrogen systems.
- Control‑room operations and switching/isolation procedures.
- CMMS usage and permit‑to‑work documentation.
- Predictive and preventive maintenance techniques.
- Process Safety Management (PSM) and OSHA compliance.
- Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
