Store Officer

About the role

The Store Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring timely distribution of laboratory, medical, and stationery supplies to support patient care and hospital operations. This position works closely with the Stock Controller, procurement specialists, and various hospital departments.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries of lab diagnostic supplies, medical supplies, and stationeries.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using electronic inventory management systems or manual methods.
• Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and expiration dates; initiate procurement requests as needed.
• Organise stock items in the Bulk Store, applying proper labeling, categorisation, FIFO and FEFO principles.
• Fulfil requisition orders from hospital departments accurately and promptly.
• Conduct regular stock audits, cycle counts and physical inventories to reconcile discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with storage requirements, temperature controls and safety protocols for pharmaceuticals and hazardous materials.
• Coordinate with procurement specialists and vendors for order placement, delivery scheduling and invoice reconciliation.
• Implement quality‑assurance checks, handle damaged or expired items, and manage recall procedures.
• Maintain comprehensive records of inventory transactions and generate required reports.

Required profile

• Higher National Diploma in Supply Chain, Finance, Business or related field.
• Experience in inventory management within a healthcare or medical environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under regulatory guidelines.
