Underground Blastman – Mining Operations

About the role

The Blastman is responsible for safe and efficient blasting activities at the Obuasi Gold Mine, supporting production targets and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and control risks for all blasting tasks, reporting incidents and corrective actions.
• Handle, transport, and use explosives in line with the Mineral and Mining (Explosives) Regulations 2012.
• Prepare and execute charge plans, develop layouts, and collaborate with mining peers and contractors.
• Provide accurate production data through daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.

Required profile

• MSLC/SSCE or 2 years experience as a Blastman.
• Underground Blastman’s Certificate of Competency (MINCOM) and valid Ghanaian driving licences (C & E).
• 2‑5 years operational experience in underground hard‑rock mining, preferably with international exposure.
• Physically fit, able to pass pre‑employment medical examinations, and committed to safety and company values.

Required skills

• Knowledge of underground development and production charging and blasting.
• Proficiency with Normet and Hypercharge blasting units.
• Safe handling and transportation of explosives.
