Underground Shiftboss

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an experienced and self‑motivated professional to join the Obuasi underground mining team as an Underground Shiftboss. The role is a regulatory‑mandated position responsible for leading quality assurance, control and ensuring compliance with mining legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain production processes for the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine.
• Ensure compliance with Mineral and Mining Regulations, internal OHS standards and Labour Act requirements.
• Assist in developing the annual production cost‑centre budget and deliver production within approved budgets and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote a strong safety culture across the production department.
• Provide resources and expertise to develop the team and consistently meet budgetary targets.
• Report on initiatives, enhancements and performance improvements within the production function.

Required profile

• BSc or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Three to five years of underground mining experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Underground Shiftboss Certificate of Competency or equivalent as required by the Minerals Commission.
• Proficiency in the use of mining software and strong knowledge of underground development and production methods.
